THE LABELO GUIDE
Keep your labels local and recoverable
Labelo saves designs in this browser profile on this device. Download editable backups for important work: clearing browser data, changing the site origin or storage eviction can remove local files.
Where is my data stored?
Supported browsers use SQLite in the origin-private file system (OPFS) for designs, images, CSV data, folders, favorites, settings, printer profiles and undo/redo. Legacy workspaces migrate with verification and retain original records.
IndexedDB remains a compatibility path for explicit legacy choices and environments where SQLite is unavailable. Once SQLite is selected, the app does not silently switch to an old snapshot after a failure. Static app files use the browser cache for offline loading.
What leaves my browser?
The app downloads its code, fonts and offline assets from its host. Labelo does not send designs to an account service, analytics service or remote font provider. Opening an external source link visits that website; hosting providers may keep ordinary access logs.
Which backup should I choose?
- PDF: a print document, not an editable backup.
- .labelo: one editable label with artwork, embedded images, layout, CSV data and print settings.
- Label ZIP: multiple editable .labelo files. Workspace folders and private history are not included.
- SQLite workspace: a complete snapshot including organization, settings, assets and history. Available when SQLite is active.
How does restore work?
Open Export & backup, choose a file under Restore backup and review it before importing. Portable labels become independent copies. Workspace snapshots are opened read-only for validation and merged transactionally with fresh identifiers. Uploaded schemas never replace the live database.
Does installation make storage permanent?
No. Installation is optional and does not guarantee permanent storage. After one complete online cache, supported browsers can edit and export offline in a normal tab or installed app. Persistent-storage requests may help, but file backups remain important.
Do private windows and different devices share labels?
No. Private-window policies vary, and private data may disappear when the window closes. Browser profiles, devices, protocols, domains and ports have separate storage. Labelo does not synchronize labels through a cloud account.
What happens if saving fails?
The app keeps current edits available and reports that they are unsaved. Export an editable backup before closing the tab. Competing tabs use revision checks so stale artwork cannot silently overwrite a newer saved design.
